Value Your Office.

During a group discussion, a lady once said that what she fears most in life is not being relevant. We were eager to know what she meant and when buttressed, she meant not being known.

Are you surprised? Don’t be because this is the generation we all are in, a famous generation.

The clamor of this generation is about money and influence. Being relevant depends on how famous they are amongst their counterparts or society.

Being known is not the issue because one shouldn’t settle for mediocrity. Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your mind and strength, which means be happy in your assignment and give your best. Give your best to your office.

Nevertheless, our drive should always be to please the Father(God) and positively affect lives whenever the opportunity presents itself.

The truth remains that not everyone will be famous to the world. That is why the songwriter wrote a song through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that we can all brighten the corner where we are.

We meet people every day, either physically or through the help of social media. While attending to people, you would have attended to kings unknown to you.

The Bible said, “when a man/woman is diligent in his business(the office he/she has been given to occupy), he shall stand before kings and not mean men. Proverbs 22:29.

This scripture is misunderstood and has made many people leave their office because they want to stand before kings rather than commoners.

Most people and even Christians see the kings referred to in Proverbs 22:29 as only those in the high class in society. They quickly forget what is written in Revelation 1:6 and Revelation 5:10.

Every genuine child of God is a king irrespective of age, gender, or race.

Your office may be the office of teaching children in the primary school or even in the church. But because this office is not well appreciated by people and not well paid in some parts of the world, you leave your office and go into politics. Or from a chef to a public speaker.

Lack of value in one’s office has led to misleading purpose and sometimes frustration in life because when you end up not getting the popularity you seek, you will be frustrated.

Secondly, it has given birth to pride. Sometimes when the push for popularity hits a man, and he becomes famous, he can begin to struggle with pride that, if not careful, can lead to his great fall.

Is your office that of a teacher, gospel artist, farmer, plumber, technician, doctor, writer, chef, police officer, waiter .etc please value your office and use it to glorify God.

Putting value to your office brings peace and fulfillment.

If you lack these, then answer these questions.

  1. Are you really in your office?
  2. Do you experience satisfaction in what you do?
  3. Are you doing it with all your heart?

Dorcas was known for her excellent works and acts of charity. She was a generous person who lived sewing for others and giving to the needy. Dorcas valued her office.

Many people have left their office or are paying little or no attention to their office in the quest to make money or be famous.

Never look down on your office or be intimidated by another’s own. And never look down on another’s office.
