The Law or the Cross?

It is very understandable that we already know where this is going, but when we look deeper into this, we will understand that we haven’t been doing ourselves any good by not giving our lives to Christ.

For some unknown reasons, we prefer to think that life in Christ is difficult.

Well…..yes, it is difficult, but only for one reason: we never actually gave our life to Him. We profess Him as our Lord and Saviour, but we never submit our lives to Him in the true sense of it. Instead, we hide our lives under the law while claiming and even believing that we are in Christ.

THE LAW

The laws were instructions God gave His children when the cross was not in view yet. These enabled them to understand the mind of God and guided them to live right. These are instructions you have to carry out as stated or face the consequences, most of which involved immediate death. The way to atone for these sins was to make another animal bear the consequences of their actions so that God’s wrath could be turned away from the people at that moment. In other words, sin still has power/dominion.

THESE NEVER GAVE THEM THE POWER OVER SIN, NEITHER DID IT GIVE THEM THE POWER TO OVERCOME IT. IT NEVER HAD THE POWER TO PREVENT THEM FROM FALLING RIGHT INTO THAT SIN AFTER ATONEMENT.

THE  CROSS

The Cross is used to describe the death of Christ at Calvary. Christ died as the final atonement for all sins, both the ones that haven’t been committed yet by generations to come (but only when you come to Him)

Not only does the cross turn God’s wrath away from us, but the Blood which was shed delivers us from the power of that sin. It has the power to make us not fall into sin but rather to be able to resist them as we grow. In other words, sin no longer has power/dominion over us.

This means that if we find ourselves falling right back into the sins we have confessed, and it still overwhelms us, then we actually gave our lives to the Law while believing we gave it to Christ.

It is, therefore, time to search our lives thoroughly with this checklist and know for ourselves if our lives are upon Christ Jesus or in the Law. And if you find yourself on the wrong side of the cross, make haste to run to God in prayer for the blood of Jesus is available today to cleanse you, redeem you, and give you the power to live right.
