Vain Vessel

The other day, I came across this beautiful vase at the museum. It was one of the most beautiful vases displayed. It had pink designs and flowers, and I was instantly drawn to it. On a second look, there was something odd about it—it was incomplete.

The outside looked so beautiful, but the inside was empty. There were no flowers inside the vase, not to mention sound. I quickly frowned at this development and called the attention of our tourists.

“Where are the flowers for this vase? Why is it empty?”

He replied;

“Oh, no, ma’am. There are no flowers or anything for this vase. We are instructed to display it like this.”

It didn’t make any sense to me because the purpose of a vase is to hold something, right? If nothing can be kept in it, then it is vain.

That is a representation of a vain vessel. Looking at this in this light, “If the Lord who is the Creator has created me and deposited gifts, abilities in me that should be a blessing to the people around me and the world at large, and I am not manifesting them, what should I be called? A vain vessel?

It seems pointless and insignificant if I am just an empty vase with no purpose.

As God’s creatures with gifts and talents deposited in us, making us vessels, when these gifts are not manifested or put to use, what use are we then? The story of the man who didn’t use the talent given by the King in the Bible is an example of a vain vessel. How can a vessel filled with talents decide not to fulfill God’s purpose by using the deposited gifts to bring people to the Lord?

You have the opportunity today to switch sides and become a useful vessel for the Father.
