Estranged (Keep Him Relevant)

Have you ever wondered what happens when we alienate God from our lives? Or worse, our society?

Let’s start by saying this; sometimes, we don’t acknowledge the presence of something or someone until they are no longer there. This is a very common occurrence with mankind. Unfortunately, we allowed it to happen to us with God. It is therefore very important to tell you not to allow your awareness of God to come to a point where you can go days without acknowledging His presence. Don’t come to a point where you suddenly realise that you haven’t;

  • Spoken to God or communed with Him in days.
  • Spoken about Him to others in any way.
  • Read his Word.

The disaster of alienating God from our society begins when we alienate Him from our own lives. When He is absent from our lives, when we stop thinking about Him, when we stop talking about Him to others through our words and holy and righteous living, He gradually becomes absent in our lives. That causes an unfortunate chain reaction that causes God to lose His relevance in the society around you, and as you must know by now, it expands farther than you can ever imagine.

We must have heard a lot that as Christians, we don’t live just for ourselves. The world has in the recent past deceived us into becoming selfish with claims of ‘All that matters is your happiness’ and has used that seemingly harmful word to enable selfishness even among us Christians.

The moral decadence and putrefaction we see today didn’t come as a sudden explosion. It was birthed through an incubation period while the children of God relaxed and went cold.

The kingdom of darkness doesn’t go cold just because the children of God did. This means that when you stop speaking to yourself about God, they will start speaking to you about worldliness. When you stop speaking to your children about the ways of God, they will start speaking to them about the ways of the world. When the people in our lives don’t hear from us, they will definitely hear from others.

And this is how a Moral famine begins just around us and spreads until all around that child of God is a dry and desolate land where God is not known. And when we make God lose relevance around us, we also lose our relevance before God, and gradually we also begin to lose our divine investments which include, Favor, Grace, Mercy, and Power to triumph, etc. Such a person’s life becomes a mess, and he/she begins to blame God thus sinking deeper into desolation. Such a person cannot become a blessing to others.

However, friends, I come with good news and a very simple one at that.

Are you experiencing this famine in your life and surroundings? It is totally reversible. God is the God of abundant mercy. He recognizes a yearning heart. When you begin to seek Him, He makes Himself known. When you invite Him, He comes to you and turns your life and situations around. He blesses you and makes you a blessing to others around you and makes your life brighter and more fulfilled.

As you begin to make God relevant to your life, you unconsciously make Him relevant to those around you and it in turn causes a beautiful chain reaction that expands even beyond your imagination. And believe me, for everyone who is blessed through your work, you become a shareholder before God. So you will start to receive blessings and favours from where you don’t even know. That is how God is. He never allows a labour of love to go to waste.

Dear Child of God, a simple decision you take today to begin to seek God and keep Him relevant to you can go a long way to change your life and society. Make up your mind to pursue God, chase after His heart and ways, and soon, you will begin to experience your transformation.

    This resonates loudly. Thank you
