He gave his life to Christ when he was 19 years old and there was a drastic change. He had gained admission into the University. His love, passion and zeal for God was second to none. The presence of God was all he always desired.
If he wasn’t studying or doing his assignment, he was reading the Word of God and praying. He read the Bible cover-to-cover over and over again. Reading the Word of God and praying became his way of life for years. He is almost 60 years today and still in Christ.
Few years ago, I was asking him a few things about his life as a youth and as an adult. He told me how he barely have time to study the Word of God and pray as he ought to because of some commitments he’s engaged it.
He said something striking that rings in my heart. He said “God has been gracious to me, and what keeps me going are the prayers and the Word of God I ate in time past.”
I really did not understand and so asked for clarity. And he did.
Ecclesiastes 12:1 says “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.
Don’t say when you’re grown you will serve the Lord. Do it now because your life is a borrowed life and the Owner can come for it anytime anyday.
This is the time to pray and study the Word of God, so it can dwell in you richly. The evil days are ahead and the years are drawing nigh. If you fold your arms, you will be swept away and drowned in evil.
The time you waste on movies, spend it to pray and study the Word of God.
The time you spend writing love letters, use it to pray and study the Word of God.
The time you spend on reading novels that don’t edify, use it to pray and study the Word of God.
Pray now to avoid becoming a prey tomorrow.
Study the Word of God now to avoid being explored by sin.
You don’t know tomorrow so don’t put off what you can do today for tomorrow.
The prayer you pray today preserves you tomorrow.
Be wise baby girl. Your future is bright in Christ Jesus.
