One of the major challenges we face as children of God is attracting God’s attention. So many prayers are unanswered, and so many challenges are unsolved because we Christians have yet to gain our Father’s proper attention. But how is this possible knowing that God is Omnipresent and never too busy for His children.?
Here we want to see one of the biggest reasons:
We all don’t like that friend who reaches out only when they are in need. Sometimes, when that friend calls, we will most likely not be eager to take that call. This is because we feel the relationship’s imbalance and the void it creates.
Nothing beats the joy of knowing you are loved for who you are more than what you can offer.
Well, unfortunately, that is the Christianity we see today;
- We often relate with God not out of love but for our self-interest, to see that our matters and issues are resolved.
- We are faithful to God when we have challenges, but once they are solved, we revert to our old ways.
- We are not after God because we love Him, but for what we can get from Him. We worship Him when all is good but complain bitterly when things don’t go their way.
- We serve Him when we have the things we want but ignore Him when we can’t get them.
- We worship Him only to have Him do more for us.
God expects loyalty from us. He is a Spirit, and those that worship Him must do so in spirit and truth. We must learn to seek to know God, just for Who He is. Only then will we find Him.
We must seek Him with our hearts as a Friend and the Saviour that He is. Only then will we find Him (Jeremiah 29:13)
He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. We must prove that we value Him above every other thing for Him to open up to us.
God wants us to come to a point where our love for Him is unconditional, such that even if He does nothing for us, nothing changes about how we worship Him. When we reach that point, He comes through for us in ways we can never imagine. Abraham was a man who loved God like that. Shedrach, Meshach, and Abednego also loved God like that. These people experienced God in mighty ways because God saw that they were loyal to Him from their hearts.
When God sees that our interest in Him supersedes our desire for the things we can get from Him, He is moved to bless us beyond our imagination. That is why He urged us to seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness first. He wants us to surrender our needs and yield to faithfulness with Him.
The moment we put God’s interest above ours and make Him a priority, He immediately makes us a priority. To the faithful, He shows Himself faithful.
I believe this is one of the surest ways to attract God’s attention.
