Integrity is a word people use and even acclaim to themselves sometimes without being it and at other times without knowing what integrity is all about.
What is Integrity? Integrity is the practice of being honest and showing a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions.
Being honest and having consistent moral principles is not just about building an image but also about erecting a good name.
There’s a quote that reads ‘a woman’s beauty can take her to the palace but her character keeps her there.’
Your environment can build a good or bad influence on you. The choice is yours.
I watched a Christian movie some time ago. The CEO of the company has been searching for years amongst his employees who he could hand over his company to manage it but, he has not been successful.
One of the days he sent for an employee who has just been employed. While interacting with him, he told him he wants him to be the manager of his company. This new employee never saw this coming.
However, while in the mood of that surprise, the CEO informed him what it will cost him to sit in this position. He just needs to lie and alter in writing the inflow of the goods that will be coming in.
Mr Linus’ spirit was so down. The surprise and joy he had vanished in a twinkling of an eye. The employer observed his countenance and demanded he sleep over it and return final words to him by 10 am the next day.
That was a trying time for Mr Linus and family financially and this opportunity was a miracle, nevertheless, his integrity was at stake. He had two options which were Promotion or Integrity.
The next day came and Mr Linus was right in front of his boss. He gave him his final answer which was he can never lie.
Mr Sylvester was amazed and at peace because that’s what he’s been looking for. An honest employee, one ready to stick with his integrity no matter what. He immediately offered a handshake to Mr Linus with a word of congratulations proceeding from his mouth.
A man of integrity even when faced with challenges sticks to his values no matter what.
Integrity when destroyed can never be rebuilt and even if it does it can take a lifetime.
Your integrity builds your character and your character defines you.
