It is an irony and equally a pity that our generation today want to manifest but are either unaware of or not ready to go through the process preceding manifestation.
In process they are Ahab but in action they want to be Elijah!
The book of 1 Kings clearly show the difference in behavior between these men- Ahab and Elijah.
1 Kings 18:42 (KJV)
So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,
Ahab wanted result but couldn’t pay the price of defiance of pleasure. Elijah wanted result as well but sacrificed his pleasure on the top of Carmel mountain.
We quote without apology the book of Romans (Romans 8:19 KJV For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God) to remind God that the world is waiting for our manifestation but we never take a close gaze at the former verse which talks about a suffering before the revelation of a glory.
The inept revivalist stands on the podium expecting an eruption of glory and revival whereas he has been in the cloak of Ahab- eating and drinking,
We must understand that there are no shortcuts to results.
Let’s take a look at the life of one of the world’s revivalists.
The all popular John Knox understood that he couldn’t expect result on the salvation of his countrymen on a platter of pleasure, which led to the most popular agonizing prayer he made- “give me Scotland or I die”. Six words but full of passion! Such prayer that even the Queen of Scot confessed saying “I fear John Knox’s prayers more than all the assembled armies of Europe”. Such can never be without result (s).
Today, what is your attitude to the things you need to ield results?
Remember, you can never get an Elijah result in an Ahab cloak and vice versa (Galatians 6:7).
