- It draws you closer to God. Whenever you choose to forgive, you touch the part of you that shares similarity with God and it softens you the more for His influence.
- It attracts God’s blessings to you. Even God knows how painful it can be to be hurt, He sure does understand what it took for you to do it and will surely reward your sacrifice.
- You do not know what judgement suits any offence. Only God knows that and that’s why He wants the retribution to be left for him. Deuteronomy 32:35, Psalm 94:1
- It is an instruction and that makes disobedience to it, a sin. Why should you suffer twice? Colossians 3:13
- It gives you SUPERIORITY. If you can rise above the voice of reasoning and forgive, it will give you victory to be able to withstand other temptations without feeling at loss.
- It makes you superior to the object of offence. You gain control over that person or thing, because now it doesn’t have control over you.
- It opens your mind to be able to make better choices and decisions.
- You can be considered a SUPERHERO because it takes superpowers to move against the natural order.
- It heals you better and makes you more beautiful and virtuous. Unforgiveness is a poison, it eats you up and also hampers your mind’s ability to heal. It also come with a lot of other dark and negative feelings that only lead to your doom
- It lights up your heart and countenance and makes you a sweet person to be around.
- It makes you a favor and blessing magnet. Good things will always find their way to you.
- You are called to be a nurturer, unforgiveness pollutes the food you are passing down to those in your care. You do not want to poison the hearts of those innocent ones.
- You will avoid doing things that you will later regret deeply.
- IT SETS YOU FREE AND MAKES YOU FLY. You will never be able to fly if your wings are burdened with unforgiveness.
- It keeps you in perfect physical health. So many diseases can and have been attributed to unforgiveness. Eg, Heart diseases, high cholesterol levels, and mental diseases like, anxiety, depression and even paranoia which could eventually lead to schizophrenia. All these can be avoided by simply forgiving.
- It gives you the ability to live in the present and enjoy every moment. Isaiah 43:18
Overall, in forgiving, you are doing to yourself more good than you are to the offender. Not forgiving is like drinking a poison and expecting the other person to die from it.
