There will be more sophisticated lures in ten years than we have now. Why? Distractions and evils will keep increasing because the devil knows he has a very short time to work. So, never expect the world to be better; rather, update, upgrade and equip yourself with the weapons capable of detecting and defusing the threat and lures of the devil.
In life, we encounter countless lures—temptations that pull us away from our true purpose. These lures can most often be subtle distractions, unhealthy habits, or even deceptive voices that promise fulfillment but lead to emptiness.
Recognizing and resisting these lures requires spiritual discernment, self-awareness, and intentional action.
Lures often appeal to our desires, making them seem harmless or even beneficial. Gehazi was tempted by material things that seemed legit to him, which led him to lose his office. Eve was also tempted by the promise of wisdom and God’s status; little fruit led to separation from God.
Lures are disguised as opportunities, validation, quick success, and fleeting pleasures. They create illusions that distract us from God’s truth and our divine calling.
Aside from the aforementioned lures of the devil, he also weaponizes offence, dishonour, people-pleasing, greed, derailment and identity distortion to lure men.
To counter the devil’s sophisticated weapons, you must be equipped with your own weapons. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:11 “Put on your whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles(tricks) of the devil.
The devil is tricky, and to overcome his daily tricks requires spiritual sagacity because the devil was here long before you and I came.
Resisting lures isn’t about willpower alone. It’s about surrendering to God’s authority- His Word.
Our surrendering to God’s authority is complete when we have yielded and continue to yield to the Word through obedience.
The more we obey His Word, the more we lose the excitement and zeal for the lures and gain more passion for His Word.
