Be Not A Slave To Anger

Let me tell you a little about the body’s immune system. They get activated when a foreign body enters the body, not just any foreign body, but those that it presumes to be harmful to the body.

Foreign objects that violate the body’s present state of peace. At this, the body reacts by activating its defense system; sending out antibodies specifically targeted at the foreign body to ward it off. This is the way it was made to be.

Do you feel any similarity between this and when you feel violated in any way? That surge of displeasure, antagonism and hostility towards the object of target; that is anger.

Anger is an emotion that is felt by virtually everything that lives and breathes. It is a form of defense against violations of our present state of rest. It can be said to be natural. Yes anger is natural and should actually be in order to ward off certain unwanted situations.

Anger is what will help you to make the decision to repel some actions or words that come your way.
This is why you can never say: “I will never get angry.” Anger is an integral part of us.
It was never intended to be a bad thing, rather it was made to repel what is bad to us.

Anger becomes bad and unacceptable ;
When it is directed at people instead of the action. This makes you see them as the enemy and grow bitter towards them. Replace “I am angry with you” with “I am angry at what you did” it becomes easier to forgive.

When it rules your decision (Ephesians 4:6a), you might get angry but you get to decide what to do with it. Most decisions made out of anger do not turn out for the best.

DO NOT BE A SLAVE TO ANGER.

When it turns to hate; Anger is directed at things but hate is mostly directed at people, the action that led to the offence may be past but the hatred will linger.

When it is stretched longer than it should be (Ephesians 4:6b). the devil is the father of gossip, while anger is in your heart, he comes to whisper negative thoughts about the person. And by the next day, you get angrier when you see the person. Anger opens a channel to hear the voice of the devil and that puts you in danger.

When it is without a cause; Matthew 5:22. you are in danger of God’s judgement if you do this. This is because getting angry without a cause is similar to passing judgement on what you don’t know. This is where inheriting other people’s anger comes in. You get angry with someone because your friend is angry with the person, or because you were told something which you didn’t bother to confirm.

So dear friends we must guard our hearts with all diligence, what are you angry at? How are you managing your emotions and reactions?
If you are finding it difficult to deal with, remember that God is your help, ever present in times of need.

NEVER DIVERT YOUR ANGER FROM THE ACTION TO THE PERSON. ELSE, IT MAY LEAD TO UNFORGIVENESS. AND UNFORGIVENESS, IF NOT IMMEDIATELY HANDLED LEADS TO HATRED.
