Avoiding Tragedy

The children of Issachar were uniquely gifted in understanding the times they lived in, perceiving them through the lens of God’s plan. With this discernment, they grasped their place in His purpose and guided Israel on what actions to take.

This truth remains relevant today: to navigate our path and make wise decisions, we too must become discerning of the times we live in, seeking God’s perspective and aligning ourselves with His divine plan.

God’s plan for humanity, from the very beginning to the end of time, is meticulously revealed in Scripture. It provides detailed accounts of events that will unfold on earth, from the present day to the, and even into eternity.

By studying the Scriptures, we can uncover insights about future events concerning Israel, the Church, and the rest of the world. These revelations help us discern our position in God’s divine timetable. Such understanding equips us with a profound advantage: the ability to prepare for what lies ahead and to receive clear guidance on what actions to take and when to take them.

It is essential for us to be discerners of the times—not only in understanding God’s plan for the world, but also in recognizing His timing in our own lives. While we may grasp the plan, misjudging its timing can lead to tragic outcomes.

Abraham serves as a powerful example of this. Though he understood God’s promise of a son, he grew impatient through and attempted to hasten the plan on his own terms by subduing to the counsel of his wife, Sarah. Acting outside of God’s timing, he took matters into his own hands, resulting in the birth of Ishmael—a child born of human effort rather than divine promise. God’s plan was clear: He had promised Abraham a son through Sarah. However, Abraham and Sarah’s unwillingness to wait led to consequences that could have been avoided.

Jesus lived with a profound awareness of God’s appointed times for the key events in His life. Every step He took was intentional, remaining firmly aligned with God’s divine schedule. This is evident in His words in John 7:6, “My time has not yet come,” and again in verse 8, “You go to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, for My time has not fully come.” These statements reveal His commitment to follow God’s perfect timing, never rushing ahead nor falling behind.

As women called to divine purpose, isn’t it thrilling to know that God has designed a unique race for each of us to run, a course to finish, and a destiny to fulfill in Christ? With Him guiding our steps, we are empowered to embrace the journey with confidence and faith.

God has a unique plan for each of us, equipping us perfectly for the race we are called to run. However, staying on course and aligning with His timing is essential. To achieve this, we must immerse ourselves in His Word and attune our hearts to hear His voice. This requires dedication—through study, prayer, and meditation.

I encourage you to set aside time daily to seek Him. Prioritizing this connection with God is the most vital investment we can make in our journey of faith and purpose.

As the end of your earthly journey draws near—whenever that appointed time may come—how extraordinary it will be to stand before God and declare, as Paul did: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Tim. 4:7). What a testimony of a life well-lived in devotion to His purpose.

May the Lord bless and guide you as you embark on this sacred journey of faith and discovery. Like the children of Issachar, may you be endowed with divine discernment, understanding the times with clarity and aligning yourself with God’s perfect will. May you move forward in wisdom, knowing precisely what steps to take and when to take them, fulfilling the calling He has uniquely prepared for you.
